Glen Allan Mid-Point Request for Feedback Survey

We are almost at the mid-point in the year and wanted to 'pause' to gather some feedback from our school families. As life-long learners, seeking feedback and reflecting on what we are doing helps us grow, learn and ultimately make Glen Allan Elementary the best school that it can be. Your responses will help us to inform our planning for the rest of this school year and next.

Glen Allan Elementary Mid-Point Request for Feedback

2023-24 School Fee Consultation Survey

Glen Allan Elementary School is seeking input on school fees as we plan for the 2024-25 school year. We value your opinion and would like you to have the opportunity to provide your input. Please take a moment to complete this survey as the data collected will guide our planning.

All fees charged are at cost recovery. If you have any questions, contact Jennifer Ference at 780-467-5519 or jennifer.ference@eips.ca

Grades 1-6 Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent teacher conferences for families with students in grades 1-6 will be held February 13 and 15.

Parents are invited to book a 10-minute conference. Please visit the Glen Allan Elementary website to choose an available time with your child’s homeroom teacher.

The booking system will open February 1 at 9:00 am and will close at 9:00 am Monday, February 12.

  • Step 1: Go to https://www.glenallanelementary.ca/
  • Step 2: Click on the Menu Tab then click on Bookings OR in Quick Links- Conference Bookings
  • Step 3: “Register Now” for the Class your child is in
  • Step 4: Enter your details
  • Step 5: Choose your class and teacher
  • Step 6: Choose a time that works for you

If you have any trouble with the booking system or you wish to book an appointment with any other staff members besides your child’s homeroom teacher, please contact the school at 780-467-5519.

**Please note that the appointment times are scheduled 12 minutes apart, but the duration of each appointment is 10 minutes. This provides teachers time between appointments to prepare for their next interview.

** Kindergarten conferences will take place March 13, 2024. Kindergarten families will receive an email with booking information closer to the date.

OPPORTUNITY

Book Fair Volunteers

From February 12-16, we will have Scholastic Book Fair happening in our library.

We will need volunteers for:

  • Tuesday, February 13: 1:15-3pm and 4-8pm
  • Thursday, February 15: 930-12pm, 1-3pm, and 4-8pm

Volunteers would be helping students find what they're looking for, restocking items, and being a cashier for purchases. If you are interested in volunteering to help out during Book Fair, please email your availability to Mrs. Appleby (Assistant Principal and Library Teacher) chrissy.appleby@eips.ca

INFORMATION

What are teachers doing January 31?

On Wednesday, January 31 Glen Allan teachers and administrators will be engaged in a day of collaborative learning. In the morning, we will be gathering with other EIPS schools to deeper our understanding of Collaborative Response from Kurtis Hewson.

Collaborative response is a framework that guides our work at Glen Allan and is based on the following core beliefs:

  • All students can succeed
  • Teachers make the greatest impact on student learning
  • Schools cannot achieve high levels of success when adults work in isolation
  • Leadership is responsible for ensuring structures for collaboration

In the afternoon teachers will either be attending numeracy professional learning sessions hosted by EIPS numeracy consultants or will be working collaboratively at Glen Allan on our Continuum of Supports.

It is going to be a great day of learning for our Glen Allan team!

Returning Student Registration for 2024-25

Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) will once again conduct an online returning student registration process to confirm student registrations for the 2024-25 school year. Families of all current students—with the exception of graduating Grade 12 students—must complete the process to confirm the school their child plans to attend in the 2024-25 school year or advise the Division of their plans not to return to EIPS. Additionally, students who want to attend a non-designated school need to make that request through the returning student registration process—acceptance is based on available space. The 2024-25 returning student registration takes place Feb. 8-21, 2024.

One contact for each current PALS to Grade 11 student will receive the Returning Student Registration Form link through Permission Click on February 8. The recipient is based on which contact has been identified as the one to receive forms as listed on the most recent registration form, Correction and Verification Form or Student Information Update submitted to the Division. To review the contacts listed for each student, refer to the Student Information Update available through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Only one contact can be selected to receive forms.

For more information, contact the school office at 780-467-5557.

FIRST NATIONS, MÉTIS, AND INUIT INFORMATION

EIPS Ribbon Day – First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education

The Division’s Ribbon Day is on February 7. National Ribbon Skirt Day is a day where Indigenous people across the country are encouraged to wear ribbon skirts to celebrate their culture, their strength and their connection.
