September 26 BUZZ

Happy Friday, Glen Allan Families!
We had another great week of learning! Yesterday we had our school Terry Fox run, lots of fun was had while remembering the "WHY" of this great cause.
Our school community raised close to $800.00 this year for cancer research, well done pandas!!
Fall is definitely here and with it cooler mornings. Please ensure your children are always prepared for whatever the Alberta weather brings us, classes try to take advantage of opportunities to take their learning outdoors when possible.
October 2 is our whole school photo day, weather permitting, the photographer will be setting up outside, fingers crossed.
Enjoy your weekend!

ACTION
2025-26 School Fees
School fee information for the 2025-26 school year is now posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
- All students will have a Noon Supervision fee.
- All Grade 1-6 students who purchased an agenda from the school will have an agenda fee, those who agreed to purchase their own, will not have an agenda fee.
- For families who have been with us for a few years, please note that we are returning to the one-time field trip fee this year in alignment with Elk Island Public Schools’ Administrative Procedure. This differs from the last few years when we were charging each individual field trip as they came up.
All fees are due within 30 days of being posted. To access your fee information, simply log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and go to “Student Fees.” There you can view your fees and pay them online.
NOTE: Don’t forget to also log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal regularly throughout the year. Fees are often added to your child’s account to cover the cost of various school activities such as field trips, class projects, extracurricular activities fees and more.
Fee Waiver Applications
If you’re unable to pay your school fees, you can apply to have certain fees waived. The application deadline is Dec. 15, 2025. The application form can be found on the public EIPS website.
If you have any questions, please contact the school at 780-467-5519 or you can email Mrs. Delainey at shauna.delainey@eips.ca
Lunches and Snacks
To help keep students energized and ready to learn, we kindly ask that families pack a full lunch with enough food to last the day. While we do our best to support students, the school is not able to provide extra snacks. Thank you for your help in ensuring your child has what they need for a successful day at school.

INFORMATION
Orange Shirt Day
Orange Shirt Day is being recognized at Glen Allan on Monday, September 29. It is a day for remembrance and is an act of reconciliation. Students will be learning that this is not a celebratory or joyous occasion, but rather one where we focus on empathy and understanding. Some of the activities that we will be doing during the week are:
- orange shirt designs
- written reflections
- read alouds of age-appropriate books
If you wish to purchase an Orange Shirt, there are many indigenous owned businesses with meaningful contributions in the Treaty 6 area. One supplier for shirts is the U of A bookstore; the design is created by local Cree artist Jerry Whitehead and the proceeds go back to intergenerational residential school survivors.
The Orange Shirt Society also sells t-shirts and other merchandise.
We encourage you to have conversations with your child(ren) about the meaning behind National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, wearing Orange Shirts, and how to respond to the Calls to Action.
