September 12 BUZZ

Happy Friday!
As you might be aware we have had lots of work done to our school over the summer and it looks amazing! Our new gym floor has been a hit and classes are finally able to access it; we had to wait a bit to make sure the floor had cured properly.
Our cubbies and doors have been painted, we have new flooring in our kindergarten classrooms, fun games and interactive activities painted on the tarmac, a new gym roof and of course the amazing work that our incredible custodian Mr. Mital has done and continues to do everyday. We are so proud of our school!
Thanks again for an amazing week, have a wonderful weekend.

ACTION
Lunches and Snacks
To help keep students energized and ready to learn, we kindly ask that families pack a full lunch with enough food to last the day. While we do our best to support students, the school is not able to provide extra snacks. Thank you for your help in ensuring your child has what they need for a successful day at school.
Scent and Allergy Awareness
Glen Allan School is a scent and allergy aware school. To keep our school safe, please avoid sending nuts or nut products as this is a common allergy. Students who bring them may be asked to eat those foods in the office. We also ask that heavy scents not be worn, as they can cause serious reactions for some.
While we can’t guarantee a completely allergen or scent free environment, we do take every reasonable step to support the health and safety of students and staff. Thank you for helping us create a safe and welcoming school for everyone.

INFORMATION
BE PAWS - Positive Referral Program
At Glen Allan students and staff have been focusing on our School Education Plan goal of "connection, relationships and engaging in positive interactions." We are continuing to implement our BE PAWS: character traits that students and staff identified as foundational for respectful interactions and active citizenship expected from Glen Allan students and staff.
The four BE PAWS are:
- BE Kind
- BE Respectful
- BE Responsible
- BE Helpful
We encourage each student to embody those character traits with the overarching message being BE YOU!
When students are "caught" demonstrating the BE PAWS, they can be recognized with a PAWS-itive referral. Along with the written certificate, students are entered into a draw for a pizza lunch, and have their photo taken to be displayed for the month. It's been wonderful to celebrate all the kind, helpful, responsible, and respectful students at our school!
Clubs with Mental Health Capacity Leader
Asma, our Mental Health Capacity Builder is starting some amazing clubs, we are excited! These are announced at school so students are aware, and all clubs are on a drop-in basis!
