Our Glen Allan School Council and Glen Allan School Community Fundraising Association held their annual general meeting last night. We are so fortunate to have such an amazing and dedicate group of parents who support our students, staff and community. Please read below for our election results and information about the dates for the 2025-26 meetings.

We are looking for volunteers for our Sports Day the morning of June 6. Any parents/guardians/caregivers that would like to come please call our school office at 780-467-5519 and talk to Mrs. Camp!

Accessing User Accounts: Students Leaving EIPS

Is your child graduating from or leaving EIPS at the end of the school year? If so, they must ensure any information they want to retain from their school cloud accounts is downloaded onto a personal device before leaving.

  • Google account – Students must download any wanted content before August 6—download files either individually or in bulk using Google Takeout.
  • Microsoft account – Students must download any wanted content from their OneDrive account before August 6.

After Aug. 6, 2025, EIPS will deactivate the account.

REMINDER: 2024-25 school fees

School fees for the 2024-25 school year are posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. All fees are due within 30 days of being posted. Throughout the year, fees are often added to cover the costs for various activities, such as field trips, extracurricular activities, and late, damaged or lost textbooks.

To access your fee information, simply log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and go to “Student Fees.” There you can view fees and pay them online using a Mastercard or Visa credit or debit card. Make sure to monitor your child’s account on an ongoing basis.

For more information about school fees, waivers and payment deadlines, visit eips.ca/schools/fees. And, if you have questions, think there’s an error or need help creating a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, contact your child’s school directly before the summer break.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Pursuant to Board Policy 23: School Fees and Administrative Procedure 505: School and Administrative Fees, EIPS will forward any unpaid 2024-25 fee amounts to a collection agency. To prevent this from happening, remember to pay your fees before Aug. 31, 2025.

Student Transportation: 2025-26 registration

Planning to use Student Transportation in the 2025-26 school year? If so, make sure your child is registered so Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) can plan routes and send your child a bus pass before the first day of school.

All students who indicated needing transportation services through the returning student or new student registration processes are now registered. Those families have also received tentative route schedules and invoices—fees are due June 30, 2025.

For those students who did not indicate needing transportation services during the registration process and want to now register, complete a Busing Setup form through the Transportation Service Desk.

NOTE: Families can pay fees online using the PowerSchool Parent Portal. To pay in-person, visit the EIPS Student Transportation building during its office hours—Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on school days and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on school closure days.

2024-25 EIPS Annual Feedback Survey Results Report

The results are now available for the 2024-25 EIPS Annual Feedback Survey: For Parents and Caregivers conducted in March. Thank you to all families who took the time to share their feedback with the Division. The survey included a series of questions related to the three priorities outlined in the EIPS Four-Year Education Plan: 2022-26 (Year 3).
 
· Priority 1: Promote growth and success for all students
· Priority 2: Enhance high-quality learning and working environments
· Priority 3: Enhance public education through effective engagement
 
The overall Division results represent close to 2,400 responses from parents and caregivers across the Division.
 
The survey results for Glen Allan have helped us identify the following areas of strength and opportunities for growth.
 
Areas of strength:
  • 100% of respondents agree their child is encouraged to do their best 
  • 88% of respondents agree their child’s individual needs are met 
  • 92% of respondents agree their child is showing growth in numeracy 
  • 94% of respondents agree that the school keeps them informed about their child's progress and achievement. 
Opportunities for growth:
  • 88% of respondents agree their child is showing growth in literacy 
  • 81% of respondents agreed that their child has an understanding of First Nations, Métis and Inuit culture and history.
  • 25% of respondents indicated that are dissatisfied or don’t know about the resources available to support their child's learning. (If you have specific ideas on what resources you believe we need as a school, we are always welcome to feedback).
The feedback gathered in the survey will help our school and the Division measure its progress toward meeting the priorities and goals outlined in the EIPS Four-Year Education Plan and develop strategies to better serve students and the wider community moving forward.

Pre-kindergarten Programming at EIPS

Is there a preschooler in your life experiencing identified developmental delays or challenges with speech-language—big or small? If so, Elk Island Public School’s Play And Learn at School (PALS) program could help.

Early learning lays the foundation for success in primary grades and beyond. As such, EIPS offers the pre-kindergarten PALS program in five of its elementary school locations. Applications are now open for free speech-language assessments for those interested in registering in the PALS program this fall. The assessment helps determine if PALS is appropriate for your child.

If you know a preschooler, born in 2021 or 2022, who could benefit from pre-kindergarten programming or want to book an assessment, fill out the PALS Program Request Form or call 780-417-8219. For more information, visit eips.ca.

2025-26 Bell Schedule - NEW

Our bell schedule will be changing slightly for the 2025-26 school year to accomodate early dismissal Wednesdays. Click here and you will be directed to our school website to see the new schedule.

Glen Allan School Council and Fundraising Association Update

Glen Allan School Council (GASC)

GASC is made up of parents or guardians of children who attend Glen Allan Elementary School. GASC is run by elected council members and is a great opportunity to learn more about the school, provide support to excellent programs and resources for the students, and provide input and feedback to the school. 

We have open positions for Fundraising and President of GASCFA. Our next meeting will be September 11 at 6 p.m., everyone is welcome!!

We held our annual general election on May 22 and are so excited to announce our executive members for our School Council and Fundraising Association.

Regulation Strategy - Crinkling Paper

Here at Glen Allan we are aimed at enhancing capacity to nurture emotional resilience and well-being among students. We are actively involved in collaborating with our staff to introduce effective regulation strategies and deepen understandings of brain development. We continue to work on integrating these strategies into everyday classroom practices. This weeks strategy is Crinkling Paper.

With a sheet of scrap paper begin to crinkle it slowly one breath at a time. As you crinkle, inhale, and exhale crinkling the paper into a small ball. Now as you unfold the paper, take a pen and trace the lines you have created in the crinkles for 30 seconds! When the time is up, look at your lines and design. What do you see? What did you create?
